Golf Betting Games

Will Robins

Put simply, golf is more fun when there’s something on the line. From creative new wagers to foursome challenges to quests for a personal best, this video program—hosted by golf performance coach Will Robins—offers nine ways to add a little spice to your next round.

2:40

Game #1: Position A

If you hit a 250-yard drive on every par 4, what would you shoot? You might be surprised to find out that mistakes inside 100 yards are what’s holding you back. In this simple ball-in-hand challenge game, you’ll give yourself a perfect start and see what you can do.

2:25

Game #2: Swear Jar

We’ve all played the game of putting money in a jar for cursing. In this creative adaptation, golfers have to pay the pot for making costly mistakes. You’ll quickly learn that avoiding wasted shots—not hitting fairways and greens—is the key to posting your best scores.

1:58

Game #3: 3-Club Challenge

With 14 clubs and the endless number of shots you can hit with them, golf can get mighty complicated. This game teaches you to simplify your approach with fewer clubs—and make fewer silly mistakes. What you learn will stay with you when you go back to your full bag.

2:01

Game #4: How Far to Even Par

With this game, you’ll find out how close you need to be to the green to shoot par. Is it 20 yards out? Or 100 yards? Is it the forward tees? Knowing your “par distance” will lead to an appreciation for the short game and will help you create a plan for tracking progress.

1:16

Game #5: Prove It!

There’s nothing better than hitting a pure shot when it matters, except maybe making your opponent go again after he hits a beauty. This game gives you five chances to demand a do-over. You’ll see which situations make golfers quake—and how good you are under pressure.

1:25

Game #6: Buy In

Like the card game Texas Hold ’em, this game lets you buy back in after you get knocked out. Not only will it test your appetite for gambling, you’ll also find ways to keep your ball in play. Bet enough to make it matter, and see who has the guts to go home with the pot.

1:19

Game #7: Worst-Ball Golf

Golfers are used to dropping a second ball and playing whichever shot they like better, but what would happen if you had to play your worst shots? In this challenge game, you’ll discover how good it feels to get a second chance on every shot—but the trick is, you always have to play the one you don’t want.

1:32

Game #8: Heat

Partner golf is fun, until it’s not. Here, you’ll learn to take a friendly match and turn up the heat until, ultimately, a team’s score becomes whatever the worse-playing partner can manage. It’s a classic “hang in there” game that tests even the happiest golf partnerships.

1:53

Game #9: Mulligans

If you had a bunch of mulligans at your disposal, would your scores drop? What if your partner picked them? In this game, you’ll be fascinated to see what drives you to want a do-over—and why your partner knows best. Good golf is about scoring, not trying to hit perfect shots.
