Why We Like It
- Although larger and more playable than last year’s CLK, the conventional ST-Z provides a flatter, lower-launching trajectory compared to the ST-Max.
- This more traditionally sized hybrid (the 2-hybrid volume is 121 cubic centimeters) decreases in size as the loft increases (the 5-hybrid is just 103cc).
- The adjustable hosel provides lofts from 14 to 27 degrees.
- A wide channel in the sole stretches nearly the width of the sole to give at impact and create additional face flex on off-center hits.
- A polymer filling in the cut-through channel in the sole encases a steel bar to lower the center of gravity for reduced spin and higher flight.
- Thin, high-strength steel alloy in the face (about as thick as a nickel) with a variable-thickness design provides more potential ball speed.
- The underside of the crown is thinned with a waffle pattern. This and a thicker, extended weight pad on the sole help lower the center of gravity.

It plays like a long rescue iron. It's heavy in the head, but that makes it easier to hit out of the grass and thicker rough. You might hit a slight chunk, but the ball is going to go far. I got a ton of roll and big carry with this club.

I like the smaller, more blended look transitioning from the face to the crown. The alignment logo isn't too noticeable, and doesn't detract from its player-ish look. Piercing ball flight, but not too low, and room to move the ball in any direction. Feedback in hands was a little harsher than some.

The pear-shaped head is the perfect size; it exudes confidence because you can clearly see the face at setup. Very firm feel to face at impact. You can feel the mis-hits in your hands. Very spinny. Distance was average no matter where the ball went, which was all over the place for me.
